In Never Name the Shelf, Tiina Sööt and Dorothea Zeyringer examine a notion of work which does not comply with the desire for a concrete result. The two of them observe the working process of assembling furniture with the utmost concentration and in the process shift the focus from the real aim of the procedure – the completed object – toward the sequences of movement for assembly. Each hand movement is translated into linguistic instructions and makes the proximity between work and worker clearly noticeable. A choreographic work sequence that revises the relationship between production and product.

Concept and Performance: Tiina Sööt, Dorothea Zeyringer
A production of Sööt/Zeyringer, supported by Estonian Culture Endowment.

elastic collisions

Sööt/Zeyringer was part of the performance program of the exhibition “elastic collisions” at  Kunsthalle Exnergasse, WUK, Vienna

Wednesday, 15.03. 2017, 7 pm
Exhibition opening with performances by Peter Fritzenwallner, Thomas Hörl, Barbis Ruder, Sebastiano Sing, Sööt/Zeyringer and Julischka Stengele

A selection of 15 works from the exhibition Arcadia Unbound – a part of the 2015 Berlin Art Week in the former GDR radio station – will be placed in a new frame of reference in the Kunsthalle Exnergasse. The select works from Berlin, all from the realm of sculpture in the broadest sense, form the basis for performative interventions by eight Viennese artists. They explore various stagings of space, body, and action processes through their very different approaches to performance.
Through reciprocities between specific media, an open space is created in the exhibition space, which facilitates confrontation and connection at the same time.

Curators: Janine Eggert, Sibylle Jazra, Marte Kiessling, and Christopher Sage
Performance programme curator: Peter Kozek

Artists: Stefan Alber, Alexandra Baumgartner, Ulu Braun, Janine Eggert und Philipp Ricklefs, Peter Fritzenwallner, Ingo Gerken, Stef Heidhues, Thomas Hörl, John Isaacs , Sibylle Jazra, Marte Kiessling, Bjørn Melhus, Thomas und Renée Rapedius, Alona Rodeh, Christoph Rothmeier, Barbis Ruder, Christopher Sage, Sebastiano Sing, Sööt/Zeyringer, Julischka Stengele, Tommy Støckel

With their fine sense of humour, poetry and absurdity, the choreographic works of artist duo Sööt/Zeyringer explore every-day situations, objects and language. After inviting the audience to visit one of their rehearsals during last year’s imagetanz festival, Sööt/Zeyringer are now guests of imagetanz with the premiere of We will figure it out.

We will figure it out deals with the creative potential of seemingly unsolvable situations. Sööt/Zeyringer explore strategies to leave beaten artistic tracks, turning obstacles upside down, slaving away against resistances or simply changing the rules altogether. In the middle of all this chaos, terrible, insurmountable difficulties and unsolvable situations become the key components of their piece, giving them critical impulses for their artistic work.

Concept: Sööt/Zeyringer; Performance: Tiina Sööt, Dorothea Zeyringer; dramaturgical consultation: Katalin Erdődi: Sound design: Matthias Peyker, Sound engineering: Tamara Wilhelm, Costume design: Lise Lendais, Set design: Lise Lendais, Sööt/Zeyringer, Light: Denise Kamschal, Production assistant: Daphne Schöning

A co-production by Sööt/Zeyringer, imagetanz/brut Wien and Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava. With the kind support of the City of Vienna’s Department of Cultural Affairs, the Austrian Federal Chancellor’s Office, and Cultural Endowment of Estonia. lonely lonely @ Weitblick / Theater Fadenschein

We are playing lonely lonely at festival Weitblick at Theater Fadenschein in Braunschweig, Germany on the 20.10.2016.

In lonely lonely, Sööt/Zeyringer investigate the tension between desired and undesired loneliness, the need for human warmth and the simultaneous need for privacy. Using dry humor, subtle irony and cardboard boxes, the two performers create a rhythmicchoreographic dialogue on being lonesome and being together, while in the midst of minimalist and accurate execution, moments of surprise and poetry flare up.
